Atlas Grove

What started as a group of good friends attending weekly backyard tepee jams has evolved into a popular regional act in Northern Utah. At its core is Danny Sadleir on lead vocal, acoustic guitar, and mandolin. Danny’s background in bluegrass and Americana forms the basis of his well thought out, socioeconomic, politically satirical and environmentally charged original compositions. Eric Lamalfa, the other lead vocalist for the band, plays electric guitar and banjo and also composes original tunes. Eric’s background in jazz, Latin, and world music styles provides an eclectic angle to his roots-y songcraft. Julie Taquin brings soaring melodies to the group with her captivating violin playing. With a background in classical music she adds a sophisticated style to the band’s music but is equally comfortable at driving the band through raucous bluegrass hoedowns. Travis Taylor and Kelton Mock hold down the rhythm section on drums and bass. Travis has occupied the drum throne for a variety of local and regional acts playing a wide range of styles including bluegrass, rock, jam, jazz, Afro-Cuban, and world. His unique beats keep the audience dancing while still serving the form of the song. Kelton is The Atlas Grove’s secret weapon on bass. He is equally adept at performing orchestral movements as he is jazz improvisation. He somehow manages to drop funky tight bass bombs with an upright and is capable of reaching huge musical highs during his amazing solos. Whenever they perform, The Atlas Grove creates a joyous, thoughtful, and dance-able musical experience for the listener.
